Hi everyone!

This marks my seventh LEGO Ideas submission! After the bittersweet result of Ravenswood Mansion not being approved, I felt drawn to revisit a universe that clearly resonated with many of you— Scooby-Doo ! And this time, we’re diving into one of my all-time favorite movies… Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island!

Why this movie?

This one always stood out to me as a kid. Unlike the usual “masked villain” formula, this movie took a darker, more supernatural twist—the monsters are real ! That plot twist absolutely blew childhood-me away and made this one of the most memorable Scooby-Doo entries ever. There’s a moody Southern Gothic tone, real suspense, and surprisingly emotional stakes. So, after rewatching the movie (still fantastic!), I knew I had to bring it to life with bricks.

Design Choices & Challenges

Designing from this movie came with a few interesting challenges. The house changes between scenes—sometimes five upstairs windows, sometimes four; the color palette fluctuates from light pinks to purples, blues, and even white. So I had to make an artistic call, and I settled on a light violet facade . It’s vibrant, unusual for LEGO, and makes the model stand out.

Originally, I wanted to make a fully enclosed mansion that opened up in the middle. But due to part limits, I chose to focus on one half of the house, giving it a more manageable footprint and enabling more interior detail. The final model clocks in at 4500 pieces , weighing around 3800g , which gave me a solid canvas to recreate iconic locations and scenes.

The Main Build

The model is completely modular, built in three floors that separate easily for access and play. Here's a deeper look at each section:

Ground Floor

Features a wraparound porch, classic stone foundation, and raised cellar-inspired base.

Inside, there’s a lounge area, cozy seating, and a kitchen complete with an opening fridge and fully stocked interior.

The wall color scheme is based on movie reference: rich wood paneling and sand green, which contrasts beautifully with the exterior violet walls. Achieving that inner-outer duality with single-stud walls was a fun engineering challenge!

Middle Floor

Includes a bedroom (designed to be Shaggy’s) and a bathroom, following the residential layout of the house.

The bedroom includes the haunted mirror scene, where a ghost appears behind Shaggy—a pivotal moment in the film.

Below the stairs in the kitchen, there’s the Morgan Moonscar etching carved into the wall, another key scene detail. A trapdoor above the stairs adds that essential Scooby-Doo touch.

Top Floor

Contains Simone’s bedroom and a small lounge area. The living room serves as an atmospheric nod to the mansion’s faded grandeur.

I considered including a library, but the narrow layout made it difficult to integrate without impacting access. Perhaps a future update could find a clever way to fit it in.

Side Builds

The Crypt- The altar in the movie’s cellar couldn’t be included in the main house due to space, but I found another way: a crypt build, based on the graveyard scene. It opens fully on both sides, and inside you'll find the sacrificial altar, moonlight dial, and an opening roof to align with the moon—just like the ritual from the movie!
The Mystery Machine- Heavily requested from my previous submission! I couldn’t reuse the exact LEGO version, so I designed one inspired by it, with original elements: Opening double rear doors, Removable roof for interior access, A more refined red dashboard and seating, Fully enclosed walls instead of side panels that open upward
The Tree with Cats- The spooky tree near the house shows up in multiple key scenes—often full of ominous-looking cats. I recreated it with twisted branches and enough perches for several feline residents.
Chili Pepper Bushes- Since the house is on a chili pepper plantation, I added several small chili bushes to dot the grounds. It gives the build a grounded, flavorful environment.

Minifigures

This set wouldn’t be complete without the full Mystery Gang, plus the island’s residents—both friendly and fearsome. Here’s the proposed line-up:

Fred Jones – In his darker, modern jacket look, equipped with walkie-talkie or camera accessories.
Daphne Blake – Dressed in her Coast to Coast TV outfit with lavender jacket and pressed slacks.
Velma Dinkley – In her movie-specific casual outfit, with notebook and magnifying glass.
Shaggy Rogers – Classic green tee and brown pants combo, with alternate scared face and accessory snacks.
Scooby-Doo – Expressive molded figure with eyebrows and collar print.
Additional characters:
Simone Lenoir – Elegant attire and dark magic accessories
Lena Dupree – Friendly and stylish
Beau Neville – Rugged, undercover detective in gardener disguise.
Jacques – Ferry driver with secret intentions
2 Zombie Pirates – Weathered, tattered uniforms, including Morgan Moonscar and one confederate. Open to adding more zombies aswell
3 Werecat Forms – For Simone, Lena, and Jacques

The idea is to let fans recreate the transformations from the movie in minifig form!

Why This Would Make a Great LEGO Set

“Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island” is not just any installment in the franchise—it's widely considered one of the most iconic and beloved Scooby-Doo stories of all time. It was a bold creative departure that shocked fans with real supernatural threats instead of the usual unmasked suspects. This twist makes it unforgettable and opens up exciting possibilities for a LEGO set unlike any other.

From a play and display perspective, the set offers the best of both worlds. You get a highly detailed haunted mansion-style bayou house with layers of mystery inside, paired with modular functionality that makes building and interacting with it a joy. The ability to separate the floors means it's not just a static model—it's a playable stage for solving mysteries, setting traps, and reliving iconic scenes.

The modular crypt build with the moonlight altar adds depth to the storytelling and expands the set beyond just a house. It gives fans the opportunity to recreate the dramatic supernatural ceremony and brings the lore of the werecats to life in brick form.

Including the Mystery Machine, redesigned to work better within LEGO’s system and with new details, ensures that fans don’t need to rely on previous sets to complete the gang’s adventure. This version stands strong on its own—especially with the added rear doors and play-friendly interior.

And, of course, the minifigure lineup is a huge draw. Not only do you get the full Mystery Inc. gang in their exclusive movie outfits, but you're also getting a dynamic cast of supporting characters—some with secret transformations! The werecats, zombies, and disguised villain figures all add a layer of surprise and roleplay potential, just like the film.

Finally, there’s something timeless and atmospheric about the Southern Gothic bayou setting. The pastel façade, the hidden altar, the moss-covered tree with watchful cats—it all creates a vivid, unique vibe that hasn’t been seen before in LEGO. It’s spooky, stylish, and nostalgic in the best way. This set would stand out on shelves and in collections, sparking interest from Scooby-Doo fans, LEGO modular collectors, and Halloween lovers alike.
