I invite everyone to visit the McDonald's Museum!
A little history:
The McDonald's No. 1 Store Museum operated from 1985 to 2018 in Des Plaines, Illinois, USA. It was built on the historic site of one of the first McDonald's restaurants opened by Ray Kroc. The restaurant itself operated from 1955 to 1984.
The museum was designed in a classic style based on the McDonald brothers' blueprints — a building with golden arches and red and white tiles on the outside. The site also featured the original sign with the cartoon mascot “Speedee,” which represented innovative conveyor belt service, a fresh breakthrough in the food industry at the time. The sign bore the original inscription “We've sold over 1 million hamburgers.”
The museum could be visited as part of a tour during the summer. Unfortunately, in 2017, McDonald's decided to demolish the museum due to repeated flooding of the area. In 2018, the demolition of the museum was completed, and the area was donated to the city to create a green park area.
The closure and demolition of the restaurant is one of the reasons why I decided to build this model. The museum is no longer there, and it would be fair to immortalize it in a LEGO set. Although we can no longer visit this museum and touch the history of one of the largest companies, anyone who wants to can have their own museum at home, built with their own hands.
I love studying the fate of historic buildings and various objects. I immersed myself in the history of this restaurant-museum and decided to try to assemble it in the editor. This building has a unique and memorable appearance. At first, I did not intend to share this project; I just wanted to try to make it. But when I finished, I realized that it was a great set for IDEAS.
Inside this restaurant-museum model, there is an open kitchen, a storage room, a utility room, a freezer, and a restroom. Outside, there is a sign with a minifigure – “Spedee,” a commemorative plaque, and the surrounding area.
This set includes 6 minifigures: 3 restaurant employees, 2 guests, and “Spedee.”
Number of parts: 1979.
Millions of children and adults around the world love McDonald's food and adore their merchandise and toys. For many, it's not just a brand, but an integral part of their lives.
I am sure that even those who have never seen this museum will immediately recognize it as McDonald's style because it is recognizable all over the world.
In my opinion, these factors show that this LEGO x McDonald's set will be in demand and popular even outside the community.
